A one-day pilgrimage

The Neukirchen Chapel Trail offers places of tranquillity for body and soul, far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. All you can hear is the chirping of birds. The walking route takes you through beautiful parts of the village and is an unforgettable experience for young and old alike. It invites you to slow down and takes you past nine chapels. Designed as a circular route, the walk takes you across meadows, through woods and over small hills, offering wonderful views of the Hohe Tauern and the Pinzgau Grass Mountains. From leisurely walks to the Farmers’ Autumn Festival

The Hohe Tauern National Park holiday region, with its 266 three-thousand-metre peaks and 342 glaciers, is rich in scenic treasures – but also in culinary ‘summit experiences’. Right next to the motorhome pitch at Gasthof Friedburg, traditional regional delicacies as well as lamb and goat specialities from the farm’s own livestock are served. With the finest ingredients – such as spring water, herbs, berries, fish and game – practically on the doorstep, quality is naturally high.

Sledding Fun for the Whole Family

On the world’s longest floodlit toboggan run in the Wildkogel Arena in Neukirchen/Bramberg, parents and children cover an exceptionally long distance: over 14 km, families can enjoy pure tobogganing fun! The fun-filled tobogganing adventure begins with a ride on the Wildkogelbahn or the Smaradbahn.

From the Wildkogelbahn mountain station, tobogganers walk towards the Wildkogel Alm (about 15 minutes), where the toboggan run begins.

Surrounding the Wildkogel Arena lies a scenic gem that offers fascinating glimpses into a unique world of flora and fauna: the Hohe Tauern National Park, covering more than 1,800 km², is the largest national park in the Alps; it encompasses large parts of the central main ridge of the Austrian Alps. Majestic three-thousand-metre peaks such as the Großglockner – at 3,798 m, Austria’s highest mountain – the Dreiherrnspitze, the Großer Geiger and the Großvenediger tower above the national park as landmarks visible from afar.

The original Tauern valleys of the Hohe Tauern National Park invite you to explore them away from the slopes and halfpipes. With over 200 connected kilometers, the Pinzga cross-country trail is ideal terrain for skaters, beginners, recreational skiers, and seasoned pros alike. Between Krimml and Zell am See, active visitors can also conveniently transfer to the narrow-gauge Pinzgauer Lokalbahn if it gets too late to make the return trip on foot.
